We are halfway through the DNC, and I have not seen any representation of the disability community. Not that the RNC did any better; I could be wrong since I only watched bits and pieces of their show. Ever since #45 took office, the disability movement has really slipped into the background. The smallest voices carry the farthest.

I have been a Democrat since the age of 18, as soon as I could register to vote. Why be part of a party or group if you do not fully believe in what they stand for? It was in March when I re-registered as a non-affiliation. It was another false label people put next to my name without taking the time to understand my thoughts.

JB has been my PCA for over one and ½ years; the other week, a couple of his friends took a cruise. This gave him the idea for us to take a cruise; maybe I could jump on a ship and get a gig doing drunken painting!!!

How Much Is Too Much AI?

I often thought about how nice it would be if I could think of something and have it written down in whatever app I wanted. If this was the case, would I be more willing to use this as a form of communication? My argument for not using a communication device is that it still takes time to write my thoughts out, so why not just voice them? It also builds a bond between me and the person I am talking with. On the other hand, my personality could still be missing, which could ultimately depersonalize the experience of knowing me.
I take the same approach to my art since each piece represents me as a person. How can AI imagine my art in the same way that I do? When the Chuck Close app came out, anyone could create an image in his style, but do you understand how he works and why? The concept of art is to convey thoughts and feelings. Can AI represent us, individuals? Different marks within an artwork can change a feeling for that second.
Can AI represent us as individuals or reinforce stereotypes? Is the efficacy and speed of AI worth losing our unique abilities and voices? I might be the most conflicted about the use of AI. The other week, Mary and I were having Manny time and surmised that my body needs tomorrow's technology, but I have a soul from many lifetimes ago.

Kinggimp.coffee, What In The World??!

Who would think kinggimp.com would be so popular? Of course, it was taken before I would get home from the Oscars and was for sale for a gigantic amount. I had to wait a few months until the domain name was available again. I had the domain name for about 20 years, and about seven months ago, it was bought out from under me. I typed in the URL, and it went to an Asian gambling website. I looked it up the other day, and now it is a Middle Eastern website. It makes me wonder what king means to different cultures.
Was it worth the time and money to regain the .com? I was Godaddy and saw .coffee. HMMM!!!! That is more like me; anyone who has spent time with me knows how I am about coffee, especially in the studio. I have been asked what inspires me, and I jokingly replied caffeine. The URL KingGimp.coffee is just me; I am sure it will be harder to get web traffic to my site. Since when have I taken the easy way, my way leaves an impression. It has been over 24 years since the documentary was unleashed on the world, and I still receive messages from around the globe; welcome to KingGimp.coffee!!!

Having a Disability is a Full-Time Job

This week I started using the Evvie system in Maryland before getting penalized for being the rebel I am. I can already tell this new system of keeping track of my care hours will be a pain in my ass than anything. I like that it calculates my hours, but other than that, using this system is like having a full-time job.
With paper time sheets, I only had to worry about them on the due date, and I could cut and paste stuff. With Evvie, it is another daily task clocking in and out and then approving each shift. The Annkissam App only records the hours worked, and with this, you have to be very precise, down to the last minute, or it will blow your budget out of wack. In the next step, the employee and the participant must log into the Evvie portal to approve each shift for each employee.
Even with myself being a wizard on the computer, these are tasks that I should not have to worry about!

Museums are increasingly making accessibility a priority, but without a clear blueprint for how to advance it, it can be difficult to know where to start. Here are some suggestions for finding your entry point.
Over the past decade, conversations about accessibility have increased within the museum field, and many organizations including AAM have identified it as a priority. There is not, however, a straightforward and approachable blueprint for increasing accessibility, meaning the museum workers tasked with doing so are often left wondering, “How do I get started?”
Heather Pressman and Danielle Schulz wrote The Art of Access: A Practical Guide for Museum Accessibility to answer this question and support museum practitioners on their accessibility journeys, regardless of the size, budget, or scope of their museum, by providing a range of starting points. Here we share three main guiding principles that every museum, regardless of size or focus, should keep at the forefront. Additionally, we highlight the work of three museums—The Henry Ford, the Intrepid Museum, and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art—to shine a light on exciting ways accessibility and inclusion have been integrated into programs and evaluated.

The Squeaky Wheel Shows How Disability Humor Work
After months of preparation and content creation by founder and Editor-in-Chief Steven Verdile, The Squeaky Wheel went live in June 2021. Its look and feel are similar to that of The Onion, but with a disability perspective. The Squeaky Wheel has a news website format. Its headlines are funny in themselves, with the jokes further fleshed out by short articles, supplemented with clean, professional, entirely anonymous stock images. Everything is presented as perfectly normal, told with a straight face. The disability-based anger, confusion, and humor are all implied.

For those with color vision deficiency, also known as color blindness or CVD, certain hues are difficult or impossible to discern. The condition affects approximately one in 12 men and one in 200 women. Now, the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) is teaming up with EnChroma, a company that specializes in the production of glasses with lenses that adjust to change color perception, to give color blind visitors a chance to experience the full spectrum of some of the museum’s most vibrant paintings.
