For the past few months, I have been seeing popup headlines that say extra $1600 for SSI recipients. I never click the links since I never seemed to receive notices or remember hearing about this in the news. I figure it was another false flag, I finally research the extra payments since it is supposed to happen in September.

From my understanding, this is not an extra payment, we will be getting our October checks before the first due to October 1st falling on the weekend. With this occurrence, we are receiving two checks in one month due to the calendar, not because the Feds voted to give us an extra payment. This is very confusing and could cause budget problems for countless Americans that do not have a rainy-day fund.

When I hard we would get an extra check this month, I already had that sucker spent thinking it was acting as another stimulus check. If I followed my impulse, I would be freaking out by the 3rd of October wondering whare my regular check is and how will I pay bills?

Janice's fundraiser for Women Embracing Abilities Now

About Fundraiser: Women Embracing Abilities Now (W.E.A.N.) is reaching out to family, friends, and allies for help. W.E.A.N. is a non-profit mentoring program for women and young ladies with disabilities and is under the umbrella of The League for People with Disabilities, a nonprofit organization serving the Baltimore community since 1927. W.E.A.N. and The League’s similar missions of empowering individuals with disabilities make a perfect partnership. Through this partnership, The League gives W.E.A.N. in-kind donations such as rent-free use of their facility; time, and services of their administration staff; and free advertising. The League’s facility is filled to capacity with all of its wonderful services and programs and cannot provide W.E.A.N. help with storage space. HERE IS WHERE W.E.A.N. NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT! For years W.E.A.N. has had a very generous donor who paid our monthly storage fee but unfortunately, this donor can no longer help us. W.E.A.N.’s storage contains program...

Netflix Partners With RespectAbility on New Program for Disabled Children’s Content Writers and Animators

RespectAbility has teamed up with Netflix to create a new Children’s Lab for disabled TV creators, which will provide education and training for disabled writers, animators, and creative executives looking to focus on preschool and children’s content.

The training program, funded by Netflix’s Fund for Creative Equity, will include a five-week course featuring programming by New York-based production partners 9 Story Media Group and Silvergate Media. As part of the lab, participants will each be assigned a mentor as they join in-person and virtual workshops, trainings, panel conversations, networking events, and a talent showcase with table reads of each writer’s project performed by disabled actors. The Children’s Content Lab will also provide a week of career development training with industry experts.
