I remember when I was young my mom would often ask where I want
to when I get older. I would always reply a motor home, so I could keep moving
around the country, once again it seems I was ahead of my time. In a new trend
people are building tiny houses that are accessible for People With
disabilities, this is a better alternative then renting a subsidized housing
that one will never own and is out dated.
Back in the late 90’s people invested in building community
living places for the elderly, I would do the same for PWDs. Buy property and
run water and electric hook ups for tiny house.That way PWDs have option of place to live in their own houses.I would also build places so there could be
PCAs on call 24 hours a day, but they would have their own spaces.I am just an old soul hippy at heart,
because you know what this sounds like!
If I had the money, I would invest in property to run water and electric hook ups all through out the place. I have been seeing a lot of these types of blogs.
It is a great idea for many reasons, consider the amount of money PWDs throw away on just renting. Also the fact that we live in one place for most of our lives due to affordability. Would buying tiny houses also save tax payers money, if programs were setup to buy, rather then live 40-60 year in subsidized housing?
I am sure people still have to rent the land to park just as a trailer park. The tiny option may be the way for PWDs to be included in the latest housing trend. I think it would cool to start a Gimp commune.

Oct. 15, Sprout Film Festival returns to Cheverly, Maryland
A quick note to make you aware that the Sprout Film Festival, showcasing short films featuring people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, will take place in Cheverly, Maryland on Wednesday, October 16th.
The festival, presented by Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission will take place at the Publick Playhouse – 5445 Landover Road Cheverly, MD.

First showing: 11:00am – 12:00pm / Second showing: 7:00pm – 8:00pm

Than a a few days ago, I did another search and hit the mother load and even fond an online gallery that sold his work.

Giving Artists With Disabilities a Space to Thrive
Meet designer Fisayo Quadric, she's a junior at Pratt Institute. As part of Cerebral Palsy Foundation's #designfordisability
project, she has focused on functionality by creating garments that
explore easy and new ways of getting in and out of clothes. We can't
wait to see her designs on the runway at our design for disability gala
tomorrow!

Since NPR's Investigation Finds Hidden Epidemic Of Sexual Assault, I am all for sex education for People With Disabilities. It needs to fit on the intellectual leval of that person. This might be a double edge sword, because sex can be bliss and frustrating at the same time.
I recently had a conversation with a young friend, he had many questions. For example, do regret waiting until you old was older to become active?
No, once you have an apple, you want the orchard.
Why didn't you and a friend....?
Anybody can have sex, but can anybody be friends?
On flip side sex education creates awareness, against sexual assault. When you know how something should be, it brings awareness when it is wrong. It seems that sexuality is still taboo in the Disability community and the only time it becomes a topic of conversation is for the wrong reasons.
